Warehouse Material Handler

Summary

The purpose of the Warehouse Manager is to oversee the entire warehouse operations for accuracy and efficiency while maintaining the safety of the warehouse team.

 

Tasks

  1. Management Responsibilities
    • Manage and maintain orders requested by the foreman, including ensuring materials are ordered and received on time  
    • Unload materials and stock accordingly in the warehouse
    • Review and approve warehouse inventory audits
    • Oversee the management of inventory and ensure accuracy
    • Ensure daily warehouse tasks are being completed
    • Oversee Warehouse Foreman and ensure warehouse policies and procedures are being followed
    • Ensure the safety of self and others in the warehouse by enforcing safety policies and procedures
    • Comply with all company policies and procedures and safety requirements
    • Review recommendations for improvement submitted by General Superintendent
    • Ensure all security equipment is in good working condition
    • Read and follow plans, material lists, and guidelines and apply necessary timelines
    • Ensure accuracy among invoices, work orders, and reports
    • Manage warehouse budget
  2. Tools
  • Oversee the purchase and maintenance process of tools and equipment for the company’s inventory
  • Oversee to ensure Trio achieves the best possible rates/terms on purchases and continually explores new/innovative tools and products solicited by vendors that will increase job productivity
  • Coordinate all purchases with project management and CFO before making them, and deliver copies of purchase records to project managers or accounting team for billing purposes    
  • Arrange for rented tools and other equipment when requested by either the field or office
  • Ensure each foreman has on his/her project MSDS binders and First Aid Kits at all times
  • Provide these essential items to foreman prior to or at job start-up with the initial tool delivery
  1. Pre-Fab
  • Expected to help drive the process; continually improving our assemblies, developing new methods, finding more effective approaches, and expanding the use of pre fab on every project
  • Included is creating, maintaining, and updating a pre-fab catalog with pictures and descriptions
  • Directly responsible for soliciting and receiving orders from the field and project managers, ordering materials and supplies using job costing, manufacturing assemblies, managing productivity, maintaining quality (includes QC labels and testing) and coordinating on-time delivery
  • Expected to communicate directly with the field personnel, production superintendent, and/or project management to clarify questions or misunderstandings with orders including deadlines
  • If required, coordinate all 3rd party manufacturing processes in order for pre-fab orders to be completed including but not limited to welding, galvanizing, machining, and cutting
  • Ensure all orders are completed by stated deadlines and copies of all pre-fab order forms are kept in appropriate binders (coordinate with shop foreman)
  • Includes delivering a copy of the pre-fab order form to the Foreman when the order is complete, showing labor hours and breakdown by cost code
  • Monitor both the economic benefit and usability of our products
  • If we do anything that does not improve our efficiency, you are to fix it or eliminate it.
  • Make or assemble any tools, temporary power boards, temporary lights and stringers, or material cages as necessary
  1. Maintenance
  • Arrange routine maintenance on all company vehicles including delivery truck(s), trailer(s), service vehicles and forklift, etc.
  • Oversee to ensure the facility and vehicles are secure upon departure (including alarm) and daily closing checklist is complete
  • Be first responder in the event of break-in, fire or other damage to the facility
  1. Deliveries
  • Coordinate drop-off/pick-up of all deliveries to the field which may consist of materials, pre-fab, tools, other supplies, and information (including mail) which will enhance job productivity
  • Communicate directly with field personnel, project management and production superintendent to facilitate efficient delivery schedules and to make sure all delivery deadlines are met
  • Keep record/log of all deliveries and have field personnel acknowledge receipt
  • Direct all deliveries to either the job or the shop as necessary
  • Revise all packing slips for accuracy and label all materials that are brought to the shop
  • Record what has been received by job and actual quantities
  • Inspect all packages for damage and note on packing slip when observed
  • Oversee the physical segregation of materials and equipment by job and advise both the Foreman and Project manager when their orders have been received
  • Ensure to sort, re-package, label, and/or pre-fab all items prior to sending them to the jobs
  1. Purchases
  • Responsible for ordering common material for projects and job costing
  • Responsible for receiving, handling, and storage of all goods delivered to shop
  • Inspect packages to ensure they are not damaged; exact quantities arrived and are being sent to the correct location
  •  Placing of all inventory in receiving “hold” area until detailed receiving logs have been filled out with copies of ship tickets which will be distributed to applicable parties (foremen and project managers) in their mailbox and/or electronically; to be completed within 24 hours of receipt
  • Store materials in pre-fab area and warehouse by job number in organized fashion which includes grouping materials by job number, making sure shipping tickets stay with goods and making sure boxes are all facing outward with job number clearly printed on box so they can be easily found
  • Maintain records of all left over and surplus materials that come back from jobsites
  • Inform project managers of exact quantities and catalog numbers so they can process a return or utilize on other projects as quickly as possible
  • Store these items in organized manner and push project managers to get vendors to pick them up ASAP
  • Let project managers know when items are picked up
  • Manage expenditures monthly to stay within budgeted amounts for cost codes 6500, 6610, 7070, & 6615

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant warehouse experience
  • Minimum 3 years supervisory experience
