Project Engineer

Summary

The Project Engineer is responsible for coordinating field operations between General Foreman responsible for the project and the office.

Tasks

  • Business Development
  • Maintain relationships of established customers in the field
  • Attend marketing events to foster customer relationships and build rapport
  • Inquire and obtain customer feedback throughout the project

Estimating

  • Assist in gathering/investigating information as needed for the RFI and communicating from field to the office or office to field

Project Execution

  • Attend kickoff meetings and complete any required actions
  • Ensure most current building information modeling (BIM) is available to the field for accurate installation
  • Consolidate accurate field material orders and submit for procurement & delivery to optimize production
  • Coordinate jobsite deliveries & logistics to support production (e.g. elevator time, dock access)
  • Complete daily or as needed job walks to discover issues or address concerns
  • Obtain notes from GF and comprehensively document job logs daily
  • Take and catalog Jobsite photographs according to company protocol
  • Attend project meetings (internal & customer) to ascertain issues or concerns
  • Participate in safety audits and accident prevention to learn protocol
  • Manage field project file organization ongoing throughout the project
  • Participate in closeout meetings providing feedback on process and lessons learned
  • Help assemble closeout documents as requested
  • Adhere and conduct oneself in field according to company policy & procedures

Skills & Abilities

  • Skilled in Mathematics
  • Electrical theory
  • Electrical & building codes
  • Basic understanding of general construction methods and procedures
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office suite and general computer use in the PC
  • Communicates effectively both orally and in writing
  • Expresses opinions and ideas in a direct, honest, and appropriate manner
  • Promotes positive teamwork atmosphere and collaborates with others to build camaraderie
  • Takes action and makes decisions that successfully build customer value while meeting company goals
  • Accepts accountability for business results and delivers results that meet or exceed expectations
  • Pays attention to detail keeping focus on what is important and required for continued success
  • Effectively adapts to change and demonstrates how his/her actions impact others

 

Education & Experience

  • 0-6 months industry experience
  • BS/MS Construction Science Degree or related field
